Some interesting things to see around the castle
Wooden statues of Saint John The Baptist and Saint Vincent stand each side of the ouest door of the Chapel
The yew trees in the garden, laid out like a huge hopscotch game, are themselves set out like chess pieces. The sundial at the center is probably a replacement for an armillary spere, which would have been used for celestial observations and studies of the stars.
The roof of the castle and the keep Tower is a pure marvel, its turrets with their wooden crosslets standing out against the clear blue skies of Beaujolais.
On the wall opposite the Tower is a facade from the reignn of Henri II ( 1547-1559 ), with coats of arms which confirm the genealogy of the families who have lived and loved Pizay |
